14.8.2017 - 29.8.2017, Čavoj (Slovakia)
Two weeks... For someone it can be a really long period, but for youthful students from international camp financed by the Erasmus+ project, it was a great time spended with new friends. There were 20 participants from Albania and Slovakia. By the period of 16 days they´ve spent a lots of fun while doing several activities. Either sport activities or improving their communication skills. However on the header was written „chess camp“, chess wasn´t the main point of the camp. It was improving communication skills of the students, get to know the culture of the partner country, make bond of friendship via team activities and learn something about the European Union.
While organisation a program, we were welcomed by the mayor of the Prievidza – JUDr. Katarína Macháčková, and by the mayor of the Čavoj – Ing. Ján Halaška. The main communication language was English, although each of us tried to learn the language of the other country.
When we were choosing the participants for this project, we have personaly met a huge predictions about Albanians. We also tried to eliminate them. The name of the project „Let us find the way to each other“ and its mission have been accomplished. Each of us have found the friend from other country. While running the camp, there weren´t any conflicts between patricipants. Students from both nations behaved friendly and open to others. We were mutually learning about nature and culture of the other country, there were also some sport matches, talent competition and, obviously, chess tournament.
Our camp flag expressed the partnership between both nations by uniting symbols of both countries. The motive of this flag have been designed by all of us and drawed by talented girl from Albania.
Naturally there had to be some walks in wonderful Slovak nature. Our biggest amazement was, that even though Albanians have higher mountains than us, they haven´t used to do some tourism. So they were tired even after the shortest trip. But it doesn´t means that they gave up. Right opposite... They tried to be as active as they could. We all have climbed up the Temeš rock and learned the grounds of Slovak and Albanian language. At the end of the camp each participand have achieved an International certificate for passing out an Erasmus+ camp.
Our special thanks goes to: the Chess club of Prievidza, Federata shqiptarie e shahut, Čavoj village, Prievidza city, Bojnice castle, ZOO Bojnice and to all participants of the camp.
