Grandmaster Ivan Saric from Croatia won the title of the European Chess Champion in 2018.
Ivan agreed to support the Smart Kids family and his signature appeares on our certificates from the second half of 2018.
The European champion also answered three questions as following:
1. Why do you consider chess as being useful for kids for their future lives?
They can from an early age learn and experience the decision making process, logical thinking, strategic planning, calculation, imagination, realize how the time is important factor in chess as in life. There is not any other sport, or any other human activity which has all these elements which would be useful later in life.
2. What do you find the most exciting when being a professional chess player?
Playing an important game, or sometimes the whole tournament. Travelling to new and interesting places.
3. How would you recommend to support the women chess in the future?
This one is a really difficult question. I do not think women chess has been badly supported, in my opinion it is at least equally supported as men chess, but for some reasons women have less interest in chess and thus cannot compete with men at the top level.
